In anticipation of tomorrow — our 1600th day together — I went scrolling through some old blogs. I found a post that was talking about the compliment to insult ratio. Basically, for every negative insult that someone receives, it takes five compliments to counteract it. Those compliments need to be sincere and thoughtful. Think about that before you say something mean because the profound effect it has on ones self esteem is apparent. Also think about this fact the next time that you are cheering someone up: if their confidence took multiple hits, then it needs 5* as many compliments to restore it to normal.
